On 24 June 2008, the United States and Vietnam agreed to launch bilateral investment treaty (BIT) negotiations. The Third round of negotiations took place in Washington, DC on November 17-19 de 2009. There have been no rounds of negotiation of this agreement since the United States and Vietnam started their participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP).
