Text of the Agreement
  Background and Negotiations
   

On 7 August 2007 Chile and Australia began negotiations of a free trade agreement in Canberra, Australia. On 27 May 2008, after four rounds of negotiation, Chile and Australia concluded negotiations of a free trade agreement.

The Chile-Australia Free Trade Agreement was signed at Parliament House in Canberra on Wednesday, 30 July 2008.

  Entry into Force
   

On 23 January 2009 the Chilean Senate approved the Free Trade Agreement Chile-Australia. On February 4th both countries exchanged ratification notes of the Agreement. The Chile-Australia FTA entered into force on 6 March 2009.
