Peru - Australia
  Background and Negotiations
   

On May 24, 2017, Peru and Australia launched bilateral negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The first round of negotiations was held in Lima, Peru on July 05-07, 2017. The second round of negotiations took place in Canberra, Australia on August 28-September 02, 2017. A third round of negotiations was held in Lima, Peru on 16-20 October, 2017. Peru and Australia announced the conclusion of the Peru-Australia Free Trade Agreement (PAFTA) negotiations on November 10, 2017. The Peru-Australia Free Trade Agreement was signed on February 12, 2018.

  Entry into Force
   

On February 22, 2019, Peru ratified the Peru-Australia FTA through Supreme Decree No. 009-2019-RE. The Free Trade Agreement entered into force on February 11, 2020.
