On August 26, 2019, Chile and India signed the terms of reference to deepen their Partial Scope Agreement.

On April 8 and 9, 2021, the second round of negotiations to deepen the Partial Scope Agreement was held in a
virtual format. The third round of negotiations took place on October 7, 2021. In this round, the negotiating
groups on Market Access, Rules of Origin, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures and Technical Barriers to Trade met.
On May 8, 2025, Chile and India signed the Terms of Reference for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. The first round of negotiations took place in New Delhi between May 26 and 30.
At the end of August 2025, India and Chile concluded the second round of negotiations for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which was conducted virtually over a four-day period.
On October 27, 2025, the negotiating teams began a detailed review of some of the working groups' proposals, with the aim of moving towards a comprehensive, balanced, and mutually beneficial treaty.
