Nonreciprocal Preferential Arrangements:  Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA)
 
  Background and Key Documents
    The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) was signed into law on May 18, 2000 as Title 1 of the 2000 Trade and Development Act. The AGOA was modified several times. AGOA II was signed into law on 6 August 2002 as Section 3108 of the 2002 U.S. Trade Act. The AGOA Acceleration Act (AGOA III) was signed on 12 July 2004. AGOA III extends preferential access to imports from countries covered by the legislation to 30 September 2015.
