  Background and Negotiations
   

On December 6, 2024, in Manila, Chile and the Philippines announced the beginning of negotiations for an Integral Economic Association Agreement (CEPA).

The first round of negotiations took place, virtually, between 19 and 20 May 2025.

The second round of the negotiation process took place between July 21 and 25, 2025 in Santiago. During this round, negotiators covered the following topics: trade of goods, rules of origin, trade facilitation, government procurement, competition, trade defense, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical obstacles to trade, services, investments, digital economy, financial services, intellectual property, legal issues (including transparency), trade and environmental, labor, SMES and cooperation.
