Chile-Indonesia
  Background and Negotiations
   

In November 2008, Chile and Indonesia agreed to establish a Joint Study Group on the merits of a bilateral free trade agreement. The final report was concluded in November 2009.

On 26 May 2014, Chile and Indonesia initiated negotiations for a free trade agreement. On March 16, 2017, Chile resumed negotiations with Indonesia to reach a trade agreement.

Chile and Indonesia continued their negotiations on June 15-16, 2017; addressing, inter alia, issues of market access, rules of origin, customs procedures, legal issues and cooperation.The fourth round of negotiations took place in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 21-23, 2017. The fifth round of negotiations, held in Santiago (Chile), concluded on October 20, 2017. On December 14, 2017, Chile and Indonesia signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in Santiago, Chile.

The Chilean Senate approved the Chile-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership Agreement on November 28, 2018.

The First Round of Negotiations for the incorporation of a Chapter on Cross-Border Trade in Services, to the Chile-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Association Agreement (CEPA) was held on November 15 and 16, 2021. On April 6, 2022, the second round of negotiations took place.

A IV Round of Negotiations to incorporate Services into the Agreement was held between October 18 and 20, 2022.

On November 21, 2022, the Additional Protocol to the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) on Trade in Services was signed. This Additional Protocol was negotiated in less than a year and after 4 virtual, hybrid and face-to-face rounds, which began in November 2021 and ended on October 20, 2022.

  Entry into Force
   

On October 8, 2019, Chile ratified the Chile-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) that entered into force on August 10, 2019.
