Chile - Ecuador
  Background and Negotiations

In 1994, Chile and Ecuador signed an Economic Complementation Agreement (ACE N˚32), whose objective was to create an expanded economic space between the two countries. Chile and Ecuador agreed to explore the possibility of broadening this agreement and to negotiate a free trade agreement and in October 2004 issued a Joint Communiqué announcing that they would negotiate a free trade agreement and that negotiations would take place, alternating between capitals.
